Our pilgrimage begins today as we board our flight(s) to Quebec City. Upon arrival in Quebec City we’ll meet our tour manager and bus driver before checking into our hotel and enjoying a welcome dinner for our pilgrimage in the evening. Overnight in Quebec City.
Flights from other airports available upon request
We enjoy breakfast and then a tour of Old Québec City where we learn more about the role of our Catholic faith in the history of Québec. We’ll also visit the Basilica Cathedral Notre-Dame de Québec, home to the only Holy Door in North America. We’ll also visit the crypt, the François de Laval Center, the Ursuline Monastery and the Marie de l’Incarnation Center, the Augustine Monastery and the Catherine de Saint-Augustine Center. We’ll gather for dinner in charming Québec. Overnight in Québec City.
Following breakfast, we’re off to the Basilica of Sainte-Anne de-Beaupré which welcomes over a million visitors a year. We’ll learn about the fascinating history of the shrine through its mosaics, stained-glass windows, stone and wood sculptures, as well as its numerous chapels. We’ll also visit the St. Anne Museum with free time to explore the grounds. Following Mass, we’ll break for lunch before visiting Montmorency Falls Park, where waterfalls are 272 feet high (100 feet higher than Niagara Falls), where we’ll admire the views. We then proceed to the Albert Gilles Copper Museum of Art, where we’ll learn about the art and historical prevalence of embossing copper. Dinner and overnight in Quebec City.
After breakfast we’ll leave Quebec City and begin our journey to Montreal. En route we’ll visit the Pilgrim house “La Madone” at Our Lady of the Cape Shrine, Canada’s National Shrine to Our Blessed Mother. Standing on the shore of the St. Lawrence River and welcoming half a million pilgrims a year, it is the oldest church kept in its integrity in Canada. We’ll enjoy the beautiful gardens with an oasis of greenery that inspires peace and tranquility. Here we can enjoy lunch, listening to local musicians who gather in the area (date/weather permitting) in our free time. After lunch we’ll drive to Kahnawake to visit the St. Francis Xavier Mission and the tomb of St. Kateri Tekakwitha. This historic mission houses artifacts dating from the 17th to 20th centuries. Other items of interest include a replica of the World Trade Center fashioned by Mohawk ironworkers and the legendary Deerfield Bell. We’ll finish the day with a visit to Notre Dame Basilica. Dinner and overnight in Montreal.
Today were off to St. Joseph’s Oratory, en route we’ll visit Mount Royal for a panoramic view of the city. We’ll spend our morning at St. Joseph’s Oratory, the world’s largest shrine dedicated to St. Joseph. One of the world’s most-visited shrines and holding over 10,000 worshipers, with its dome reaching up to 97 meters, it is second only in height to St. Peter’s in Rome. We’ll visit the original chapel, the Votive chapel, the crypt, and view relics of St. André Bessette. We will have Mass at St. Josephs Oratory celebrated by Fr. Piotr. Following lunch, we’re off to the Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum and the Chapelle Notre Dame de Bon Secours. This 300-year-old chapel and museum gives us insight into the life of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys and the early settlers of Montréal. We’ll visit the many exhibition rooms which lead you from the stone crypt to the very top of the tower for a spectacular view of Old Montréal and the Old Port. Finally we visit the Basilica Marie Reine du Monde (Mary, Queen of the World), which serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Montréal, the third largest church in Québec, after St. Joseph’s Oratory and St. Anne de Beaupré. Dinner and overnight in Montréal.
We’ll leave Montreal in the morning and head to Auriesville, NY, to visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs, sometimes better known as the National Shrine of the North American Martyrs. It will be our privilege to visit these sacred grounds on the actual Feast Day of St. Isaac Jogues and Companions and see the actual places where they were martyred in the 1640’s. This is also the site where St. Kateri Tekakwitha was born. We’ll tour the main areas, including the Shrine Coliseum, Martyrs’ Shrine Church, the ravine, the Saints of Auriesville Museum, and the chapel dedicated to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. Lunch can be enjoyed at the shrine’s picnic area or a nearby restaurant. After our visit, we’ll spend the night in Auriesville.
Today we will arrive at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and begin by visiting the main chapel. Explore the outdoor areas, including the Stations of the Cross, Lourdes Grotto, and Divine Mercy Candle Shrine. Take a peaceful walk through the shrine’s gardens and grounds. In the afternoon, we’ll return to the chapel for Mass. After Mass, we will head to Philadelphia for dinner and an overnight.
Today we set off on a day tour to visit the National Shrine of Padre Pio and the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. We’ll start at the National Shrine of Padre Pio in Barto. We’ll visit the shrine, including the church, the outdoor prayer garden, and the Saint Pio Relic Chapel, taking time for reflection and prayer. After lunch, we’ll head to Doylestown to visit the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa. We’ll visit the Chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa to see the Black Madonna icon, walk through the Stations of the Cross, gather for group prayer in one of the chapels, and end the day with time for private meditation before returning to our hotel for dinner and an overnight in Philadelphia.
After breakfast we’ll depart on a history tour of Philadelphia, the Capital of the USA, from 1790 to 1800. We’ll start by visiting Independence Hall, where both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were adopted by the Founding Fathers. Directly across the street we’ll visit the Liberty Bell. Next, we’ll take a short walk to visit the Betsy Ross house, where the first American flag was sewn. Following our visit our bus will take us to the Reading Terminal Market, Philadelphia’s famous food market. The rest of the day will be at leisure for you to visit Philadelphia on your own. Dinner and overnight in Philadelphia.
With a renewed sense of pilgrimage, and an invigorated love of our Catholic faith, we transfer to the Philadelphia Airport and board our return flight home.
