Testimonials

It has been our honor to work with over 40 dioceses (and counting!) in the United States, as well as personally working with cardinals, archbishops, and bishops. We focus on quality and authenticity in our work, and we strive to exceed the expectations of our pilgrims, but don’t just take our word for it, see what our past travelers have had to say.

Catholic Cardinals & Bishops

Thank you, Canterbury Pilgrimages, for organizing the Diocese of Knoxville’s trip to Fatima and Lourdes. Your professionalism and attention to detail were appreciated. Special thanks to Sandra Lains, our guide, Paulo Ribeiro, our driver, and Rita Oliveira, the Canterbury representative. Sharing our Catholic faith was a special encounter with Jesus through Mary.

Cardinal Justin Rigali
Archbishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia

I served as chaplain on a pilgrimage along the California Mission Trail with Patrick Madrid, hosted by Canterbury Pilgrimages. Their staff was extremely helpful, seamlessly leading our group of 150 from San Diego to San Francisco. We enjoyed superb hotels, hearty meals, and daily Mass at the missions. Each pilgrim left spiritually refreshed and inspired. I highly recommend Canterbury Pilgrimages for those seeking to grow in their Catholic faith.

Bishop James S. Wall
Bishop of the Diocese of Gallup

I have had the joy of leading pilgrims on several Canterbury Pilgrimages. The pilgrims have been delighted with the arrangements that were made including accommodations, guides and the holy sites they have visited. They found the experiences an opportunity to deepen their faith. I have always found Canterbury helpful and cooperative in organizing and planning the pilgrimages. They go out of their way to accommodate the group’s needs.

Thank you for organizing the Magnificat: “A Ministry to Catholic Women” Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on April 25, 2015. This event witnessed great faith and deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The women of Magnificat were filled with the Holy Spirit, evident in prayer and throughout the day. What a blessing!

Associate Rector and Director of Pilgrimages of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

I write this letter with joy, confidence, and gratitude for Canterbury Pilgrimages as a vocations director, I see how powerful pilgrimages inspire people to greater holiness and religious life. My own call came during a Canterbury pilgrimage in 1997. Each pilgrimage has increased my faith and deepened my relationship with God. It’s a blessing to walk where Jesus and Mary walked and to visit holy places. I look forward to our next pilgrimage together!

Fr. Jeremy Paulin, O.M.V.
USA OMV Vocation Director

Canterbury Pilgrimages is an excellent travel agency that I highly recommend. They organized a pilgrimage for nearly 500 people in Quebec with outstanding coordination. As a Catholic family, they understand the meaning of a pilgrimage. Their handling of multiple bus pickups and drop-offs in New Hampshire was flawless. I highly recommend them.

Fr. Jonathon Gaspar

After working with Canterbury Pilgrimages & Tours for pilgrimages to Italy and Poland, I am excited about our upcoming pilgrimage to France. Fr. Gary Belliveau

It was great to be on pilgrimage last week with Canterbury. Very professional and friendly. I know you didn’t need a chaplain since you had Bishop Wall, but I’m glad I could join and grateful to tag along gratis. You must have been busy ensuring everything was ready for 150 of us. You and your crew are great, and I’m very grateful.

Fr. Peter Fegan, O.P.
Pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Zanesville, OH

I hope this letter joins the many testimonials praising your professional and caring staff. We cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for the incredible trip to Turin and Rome this year. Rita was the most sincere and hospitable guide I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Having traveled often, Rita and her mother were by far the most informative and pleasant. With the sentiments of my fellow travelers, we are planning a trip to Ireland next year and a trip to Fatima for its anniversary the following year.

Just came back from France with Father Carolan from Annunciation in Yonkers NY. It was a so rich with the history of the Catholic Church. Japan Pilgrimage with Fr. Elias Mills, FI

Canterbury Pilgrimages – Japan Pilgrimage with Fr. Elias April 2023. I went on this pilgrimage last year with about 20 people, plus the tour director, Leslie Swanby. I have to say this was my first trip after the pandemic and I am so grateful to Fr. Elias and Leslie for making this a truly memorable experience. We visited Nagasaki first and stayed for 5 nights, beautiful start to the trip. It’s green and clean, as is all of Japan, the hotel was lovely and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning, followed by morning prayer, before we set out. We saw the shrines of the Martyrs and many lovely churches, daily Mass, and scintillating company. We then went to Hiroshima, Kyoto, Tokyo and finally, Akita, had the same wonderful experience everywhere. We visited Castles and gardens, historical sites, Hot Springs and all the places where the Catholics were persecuted, with excellent background commentary from Fr. Elias. If I had to write everything about this trip, it would read like a book. Suffice to say, Fr. Elias and Leslie went above and beyond what was listed in the tour, at their expense, because they wanted to give us the best trip possible, visually and spiritually. We rode the Bullet train a few times, that’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me and unforgettable. The food at the Market in Kyoto is another very special and unique experience, nobody was disappointed. Our guide also took us shopping in Tokyo, something for everyone. Akita was the jewel in the crown, so to speak, because we visited the shrine where The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Sr. Agnes Sasagawa and gave her many prophetic messages and warnings, similar to Fatima. This was not just a pilgrimage, it was an enlightening and rewarding experience. I must add that the icing on the cake was our very helpful, knowledgeable and beautiful English speaking Japanese guide, and also the very respectful, friendly and safe drivers.

Great Saints of Italy Pilgrimage with Jon Leonetti and Fr. Scott Bullock

A Trip of a Lifetime – I recently returned from a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi with Jon Leonetti and Fr. Scott Bullock. Jon, Fr. Scott, and staff from Canterbury Pilgrimages worked together to create a positive experience for all forty pilgrims. We experienced the best of Rome: The Basilicas, the Vatican, a papal audience, and all of the typical tourist attractions, such as the Colosseum, the Pantheon, and the Catacombs. We were also treated to opportunities that typical pilgrimages don’t usually offer: The vacation home of the Pope, the convent in which St. Mother Teresa stayed when she visited the Pope, and a private tour of Pontifical North American College –a college dedicated to the education of priests. We feasted on unique Italian cuisines, delicious foods, and outstanding wines. We rested in authentic, top-tier hotels that were nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable. This was a pilgrimage—a faith journey that provided me with the opportunity to deepen my relationship with God while becoming a community of like-minded Catholics and Christians. I have made friends that will last a lifetime; more importantly, the pilgrimage helped all of us to deepen our spirituality in ways impossible to explain. This truly was a trip of a lifetime.

    California Missions with Patrick Madrid

I went on the California Mission Trail October 4-11, 2021. This was my first pilgrimage. I loved it so much. Our bus driver and tour guide were amazing. The beauty of California coast, the missions & artwork will forever be forever in my mind. I will certainly go on the next arranged pilgrimage. And the best part is I have 47 new friends. Thanks be to God.

Carmelite Italy with Dan & Stephanie Burke

I’ve been processing the enormity of the experiences I had during my pilgrimage. The thought that continues, and was insistent throughout, is how thankful I am for those who planned and brought our journey to fruition. I don’t know the selection process for assigning guides to our tour but it has to be said that all contributed positively to our gaining the gifts God intended for each of us individually and collectively. Claudio and Vincenzo are an exceptional team. They were able to assess our group dynamic and provide for the diverse interests and abilities our group presented. Every day was an adventure in history, in beauty, and most especially in faith. I know I speak for all that we have been greatly blessed. Thank you. My true gratitude will continue forever as this wondrous trip lives on in my memories and in my heart. Blessings and peace to Dan and Stephanie Burk, Fr. Jim, you, to Canterbury Pilgrimage and all participants in this pilgrimage.

My group and I recently embarked on a pilgrimage to the Marian Shrines with Canterbury Pilgrimages, and it was such a wonderful and blessed experience. Marco, our tour guide, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating for everyone. We journeyed to Paris, Lourdes, Madrid, Toledo, Ávila, and Fátima before we returned to California. It was truly a memorable experience that I will cherish and continue to tell others about. Thank you
