October 22, 2019 Our pilgrimage to the Holy Land begins as we board our overnight flight for Israel.

October 23 We arrive in Tel Aviv. We meet our guide and driver, and travel north to Tiberias and hotel check in. Welcome Mass and dinner tonight. Overnight Tiberias. (D)

October 24 Following breakfast at the hotel we depart for Nazareth to visit the Basilica of Annunciation and the Church of St. Joseph as well as a visit to the Old Market of Nazareth. Next, we drive to the village of Cana, the site of Jesus’ first miracle. We make our way to Mt. Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration where Fr. Orlando will celebrate Mass at the Church of the Transfiguration followed by leisure time to pray and visit. Overnight Tiberias. (B, D)

October 25 This morning we take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to the seaside village of Kibbutz Ginnosar. Next, we drive to the Mount of Beatitudes, where we have time for personal meditation in the beautiful gardens. Then we travel to Capernaum, where we see the remains of the village synagogue and the new church built atop St. Peter’s house. Moving on, we visit Tabgha and the Franciscan Church of St. Peter’s Primacy, where Jesus made His appearance after the resurrection. We then see the Benedictine Basilica of the Loaves and Fishes. Then we will visit Magdala for a tour and Mass. Overnight Tiberias. (B, D)

October 26 Today we travel to Caesarea Maritima, where we will visit the Roman, Byzantine, and Crusader ruins. Here we will elaborate on the story of the baptism of Cornelius, the first gentile converts into Christianity (Acts 10), and on the travels of Paul — those events that led Caesarea Maritima to become the springboard of Christianity to the West. Continue to Jaffa visit ancient Jaffa. Then we travel to Ein Karem, where John the Baptist was born and stop at the Church of the Visitation where Fr. Orlando will celebrate Mass where Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth to utter the Magnificat. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D)

October 27 Early morning Mass at the church of the Holy Sepulchre. We’ll see the Old City and walk the Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrows) and proclaim the Stations of the Cross as we take turns carrying a replica of the cross Jesus carried to the Holy Sepulchre. Next, we will visit Yad Vashem, the memorial of the Jewish Holocaust followed by a visit to Bethany where Lazarus was raised from the dead. This afternoon there will be an opportunity to set off on a memorable camel-ride. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D)

October 28 After breakfast, we visit Masada. Then we continue to Qumran, where Bedouin and archaeologist discovered cavers containing hundreds of scrolls from the Second Temple period. These scrolls are best known as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Following lunch on our own, we make our way to the Dead Sea where we have the opportunity to swim (float) at 1,290 feet below sea level in its high mineral content and where almost no vegetation or animal life occurs. Drive to Jericho for Mass in the Franciscan Church of the Good Shepherd. Next, visit the Zacchaeus tree and the old city of Jericho as well as a view of Mount of Temptation. Overnight in Jerusalem. October 29 Today we set off for a visit to Bethlehem where we will have an opportunity to speak with local University students, Next, we visit Shepard’s Field and the Franciscan’s Church of the Shephard and view the Shepard’s cave. Following lunch, we enter the Church of the Nativity where we view the sites of Jesus’s birth and location of the manger, touching the hearts of all who experience this. A short distance from here we stop by St. Jerome’s Grotto for Mass and then onto the Milk Grotto where tradition says Mary was nursing the baby Jesus and a drop of her milk fell upon the stone and it turned white. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D)

October 30 This morning we visit the place of the Ascension and pass by the Church of the Pater Noster and view Jerusalem from the Mt. of Olives. We then walk the Passion down the hill and where Fr. Tom Orlando will celebrate Mass at Dominus Flevit Chapel, where Jesus wept. Walk down to the Gethsemane Church of All Nations and on to the Garden of Gethsemane. Following lunch on our own, we drive along the Kidron Valley stopping at Peter in Gallicantu (The Cock Crows) where Jesus was held in the house of the High Priest Caiaphas. We will visit the Church of the Dormition and then the Upper Room on Mt. Zion where Jesus and His Disciples celebrated the Last Supper and where Jesus appeared to them after his death and resurrection. Overnight in Jerusalem. (B, D)

October 31 After breakfast we depart our hotel to the airport in Tel Aviv. (B)
