Your Chaplain
Our pilgrimage to Italy begins as we board our motor coach from our Parish and transfer to Miami International Airport and an overnight flight to Venice, Italy. Enjoy meals and refreshments served on the plane.
Upon arrival, we will transfer via deluxe motor coach to our hotel in Venice, where we will check into the hotel. After a bit of rest, we make our way to Mass followed by a welcome dinner. Dinner.
Overnight in Venice
Today we’ll visit St. Mark’s Square, Basilica, the Bridge of Sighs, and the Palace of the Doges will highlight our tour of this mystical city. After lunch we board our motor coach and drive to Florence. Dinner.
Overnight in Florence
After breakfast, we will visit the magnificent Franciscan church of Santa Croce with its beautiful facade, a burial place of nobles, including Michelangelo and Galileo. We’ll continue through Republic Square to the Santa Maria del Fiore, a 13th century cathedral. Later in the afternoon, we depart for Assisi, upon arrival we’ll visit St. Mary of the Angels, where St. Francis spent a significant part of his life. We will explore the Chapel Portiuncola, the rose bush, and the cave where the saint retreated for prayer. Dinner.
Overnight in Assisi
After breakfast, we will visit Assisi, starting with the Basilica of Saint Clare and the lower crypt, where we will pray before her incorrupt body. We will also have a chance to reflect before the San Damiano cross, through which Christ spoke to St. Francis, urging him to rebuild His Church. Our next stop is the Basilica of Saint Francis, where we will attend Mass and offer prayers before his tomb. We will also visit the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis. Dinner.
Overnight in Assisi
After breakfast we will visit the town of Loreto and celebrate Mass at the Basilica Della Santa Casa, housing The Holy House of Loreto. Continuing our journey, we will visit Lanciano, the site of the Eucharistic Miracle from the eighth century. Finally, we will head to San Giovanni Rotondo to visit the shrine of St. Padre Pio. Dinner.
Overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo
Today is dedicated to the town where St. Padre Pio lived for most of his life. We will visit the church of Santa Maria Della Grazie, where the tomb of St. Padre Pio is located, and offer Mass. In the afternoon, we will visit the Sanctuary of Monte Sant’Angelo. Dinner.
Overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo
All roads lead to Rome… We depart for Rome and enroute we will visit Montecassino, a beautiful town founded by Saint Benedict in 529. Upon arrival in Rome, we will enter the city by way of the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine and the Forum. Next, we’ll check-in to our hotel and have some time at leisure before dinner.
Overnight in Rome
After breakfast, we will visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, the Church of St. Mary Major, and the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran. Here, we will have the opportunity to climb the Lateran Steps and attend Mass. After a short lunch break, we will travel to the Pontifical North American College for a private tour, offering stunning views of Rome. Dinner.
Overnight in Rome
In the morning, we will head to Saint Peter’s Square for the Papal general audience with Pope Francis (subject to the Pope’s schedule). Afterward, we will have a private Mass nearby. Following a brief lunch break, we’ll embark on a tour of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, Scavi tour (subject to availability), and St. Peter’s Basilica.
Overnight in Rome
With a renewed sense of pilgrimage, and an invigorated love of our Catholic faith, we transfer to the Rome Fiumicino Airport and board our return flight home.
